WCBU 89.9FM
WCBU Logo
WCBU is Bradley University's public radio station. Operating on 89.9 mHz, WCBU covers nearly 1 million residents of central Illinois, operating 24 hours a day with a blend of classical music, NPR News programs and popular entertainment items such as Prairie Home Companion, Car Talk and others.

WCBU2 is the station's digital service, offering more programs from NPR, PRI, APM, BBC and others.  WCBU2 can be heard using new digital receivers, and on this web site.

In addition to offering a 24 hour schedule of quality radio, WCBU operates a Radio Information Service (RIS) providing readings of local, state and national publications to hundreds of people in the coverage area who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print handicapped over a special sub channel of the main signal. Radios equipped to pick up the special channel are made available free of charge to listeners who are in need of the service.

WCBU relies on membership support to maintain daily operations, and makes extensive use of volunteers. Volunteers assist with fundraisers, special events and serve as announcers, reading publications on the RIS broadcasts.

 William Shakespeare's
The Tempest

The Tempest is a play that has delighted audiences for over 400 years presenting a "brave new world" of wonder, comedy, and romance. It is regarded by almost all scholars as Shakespeare's last complete work being written around 1610 -1611. This magical masterpiece follows the great wizard Prospero who, along with his daughter Miranda, has been banished from his dukedom in Milan to an isolated island. Prospero uses his sorcery to conjure a storm to shipwreck the usurpers of his throne and lure them to the heart of the island, where they are drawn into a web of magical spells, love at first sight, and old revenges that only Prospero's forgiveness - and some otherworldly assistance - can remedy. The confrontations that ensue explore themes of vengeance, forgiveness, death, and resurrection.
